The party said that senior leader K Ambhajagan has died here. Munatra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin said, Ambhajagan (98) was a close friend of the senior-most DMK leader and late party mentor M Karunanidhi. Ambhajagan was not doing well for some time due to illness and after being admitted to Apollo Hospital on February 24, his health deteriorated more.

Nabha, a nine-time MLA, was party general secretary for 43 years. He had been away from active politics for some time due to his illness. Stalin said in a statement that Ambajagan died at 1 pm and the party's flags would be half-bowed for seven days. He said that all the programs of the DMK have been postponed for a week.

For your information, let us tell you that Ambhajagan was known as 'Percyriar' (Professor). Ambhajagan served as Finance Minister and Public Welfare Minister of Tamil Nadu. Please tell that Stalin also went to meet the DMK leader when he was hospitalized. After his death, Ambhajagan was taken to his residence in the city.
