The Western Region Power Distribution Company is going to start distributing electricity bills again after about two months. The company stopped distributing bills as soon as the lockdown began. The company has also sought permission from the administration to introduce a new system regarding bill collection. The company has planned to run special vehicles for bill payment. These vehicles will reach the neighborhoods and colonies where consumers will be able to pay in cash or online.

The company has started the process for the permission of the administration giving details of the vehicles. After falling behind in revenue collection, it has become necessary for the company to earn bill payments. The power company has not disbursed the bills since March 25.

During this period, bills were being provided to both domestic and commercial consumers on mobile by SMS or online. During these two months, the meter reading of the consumers has also not been done. The power company has now made up its mind to resume distribution of bills. Distribution of bills will start in those areas of the city which are not declared as Corona Containment Area. After this, the round of reading of meters is also expected to begin.
