The National Commission for Women said on Thursday. NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma told the media, "There have been various complaints related to domestic violence, in which husbands are abusing wives and calling them coronavirus."

Regarding this matter, Sharma told the media here, 'From March 24 to April 1, NCW has received 69 domestic violence complaints and it is increasing day by day. I am getting at least 1 or 2 emails daily, even directly on my personal email id. In addition to our official email ID and phone number, my staff members are receiving complaints of domestic violence on their personal emails and WhatsApp numbers as well.

In its statement, the NCW chief said that various types of complaints are being seen due to the lockdown. Women are not able to reach the police and they do not even want to go to the police because if the husband comes back from the police station then he will torture the woman again for a day or two, this is a different problem. Earlier women used to leave home and reach their parents, but now that option has also stopped.
