U.S. President Donald Trump narrowly escaped a second assassination attempt on Sunday near his golf club in Florida. 

The FBI has confirmed it "is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination" of former President Donald Trump, CNN reported. The incident occurred on Sunday at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, where shots were fired. Law enforcement detained a suspect at the scene, and an AK-47-style weapon along with a GoPro camera were reportedly recovered.
The suspect, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested after U.S. Secret Service agents fired at him when he was seen pointing an AK-style rifle with a scope.

The authorities quickly apprehended Routh, who fled the scene in a black Nissan, leaving behind the weapon and a GoPro camera. The FBI has since confirmed the attack is being investigated as a possible assassination attempt.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is a resident of Hawaii with a criminal history. He has been arrested eight times previously for various offenses. According to online records from North Carolina's Department of Adult Correction, Routh was convicted in 2002 for possessing a weapon of mass destruction. He also worked as a construction worker in North Carolina.
