Iran fired rocket on US military, Donald Trump warns

Washington: US President Donald Trump has given a stern warning to Iran. Trump has said that Iran should be prepared for stern action by the US if Iran or Iranian-backed organizations attack US forces or assets in Iraq. Iran has been convicted in the rocket attacks by targeting American soldiers present in Iraqi military bases.

In a span of a week, the US Army has conducted three separate attacks. Three coalition soldiers, including two Americans, were killed and some were injured. On January 3, an airstrike was launched by the US at Baghdad Airport, in which Iranian General Qasim Suleimani was killed. Since then, tensions between the US and Iran have deepened. Trump said during a recent White House press briefing that his administration had received intelligence that Iran was planning to attack.

Earlier in the day, Donald Trump tweeted that Iran or its supporters are planning a cunning attack on US troops and or property in Iraq. If that happens, Iran will pay a very heavy price. After the US withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, US sanctions on Iran have been steadily increased.
