New York: US President Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to protect religious freedom while wishing Diwali. Trump said that this is America's core principle. Wishing Diwali on Friday, he said, "My government will continue to protect the rights given in the constitution so that people of all religions can worship according to their opinions."
Trump said, "Celebrating Diwali across America is a reminder of the importance of religious freedom, a fundamental tenet of our country." He lit a lamp among his administrative officials and invitees while celebrating Diwali at the White House. On his part, his wife Melania and he gave the message, "We pray that this year this festival brings love, joy and lasting peace."
US President Donald Trump went on to say, "For Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists present in America and around the world, this holy time is a chance to celebrate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and victory over knowledge over ignorance."
