Many TV channels are suffering heavy losses in lockdown. The profit of the Doordarshan channel has increased significantly these days. Doordarshan or say DD National is once again far ahead of other channels. Prasar Bharati shared the viewership of the channels. Prasar Bharati tweeted that Doordarshan has broken its own record for the 14th week. Doordarshan received 1.5 billion viewership in the 13th week. The channel has received 1.9 billion i.e., 150 crore viewership in the 14th week. It is a huge achievement for the channel.

Due to the re-telecast of the old serials on Doordarshan, the channel has regained its popularity. Serials aired on the channel have proved the English saying 'Old is Gold'. Apart from this, users have expressed happiness over this achievement of Doordarshan, and have also demanded a re-airing of some other serials. A user wrote  Please broadcast Ramanand Sagar's, 'Shree Krishna'. A user wrote in a funny way "Power of Ramayan" and then tagged Ramayan's Ram actors Arun Govil and Lakshman Sunil Lahiri "Look at the figures Prabhu".

Some other users have demanded telecast of other old popular shows like Chandrakanta, Natkhat Narada, Tin-Tin. The telecast of Ramayana has been started on Doordarshan on the demand of people. The rating of the channel has increased significantly since the broadcast of Ramayana. Apart from Ramayana, many other shows are also being broadcast on Doordarshan like Byomkesh Bakshi, Shaktiman, The Jungle Book.
