July 7: Hailing from a small town in Begusarai, Dr. Chandan Aggarwal- Chairperson of G.D. Goenka Public School, Kanpur, is an Educationist, Academician, Entrepreneur, Champion of Change, and a World Humanitarian. He started his entrepreneurship journey in 2010 with a vision to put the Indian education system at par on the global map.
Dr. Chandan ventured into his dream project of starting a chain of premier schools in India in the year 2013 that promotes active pedagogy, development of life skills and capabilities, experimental learning, and holistic progress. He started with G.D. Goenka Public school, Kanpur which led the way to the beginning of other establishments such as G.D. Goenka Public School, G. D. Goenka Toddler House in Lucknow, and G.D. Goenka Montessori School in Kanpur.
Dr. Chandan shares, “The curriculum of G. D. Goenkais compatible with the NEP 2020 since its very inception and it was due to our futuristic approach that we have also been awarded as one of the futuristic schools of the country. However, our endeavors do not stop here, as we continuously keep incorporating changes that are quintessential to our vision of global education”. He adds, “In UP, our schools are built with state of art new-age infrastructure such as smart classrooms, advanced sports, and extra-curricular rooms, international standard library, etc. Our mission is to bring affordable and accessible education to tier 2 & 3 cities”.
He believes that futuristic education is all about facilitating the evolvement of a globally aware, deft, and intellectually conscientious individual. Hence it is imperative to identify every student’s inherent talent and potential and then provide them with opportunities to hone their skills and talent. From socially beneficial campaigns to relief camps, the school run by Dr. Chandan is constantly working to garner young minds towards experiential learning who can take a step forward towards becoming self-sufficient.
Moving beyond his qualities as an Edupreneur, he also ventured into various other entrepreneurial ventures in the field of sport, music, and hospitality excelling in every field which has been experienced and witnessed by popular sports personalities, Bollywood celebrities, and bureaucrats.
The best practices executed under his able guidance have led him to receive numerous awards and accolades such as The Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2016’; ‘Top North Indian Educationalist’ by the Times of India and the Hindustan Times; ‘Remarkable Contribution in the Education Sector of Uttar Pradesh (2019)’; His school has been awarded as the ‘Best Holistic Development School’ and rated as ‘Top 10 school of the state”
In addition to this, he has also been awarded by Shri Nitin Gadkari(Minister for Road Transport& Highways, Govt. of India) in 2018 for bringing about change in the Education Sector; the Champions Of Change Award in 2018 by the honourable Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi; Award for the Extraordinary Contribution Towards Society for Helping the Under privileged, Providing Free Education to Girls, Opening of Development Centers in the Slum Areas in 2017 by Ex. DGP Uttar Pradesh, Ex. Chief Secretary Uttar Prades hand Ex. Chief Justice of India.
