Mumbai, India - The Plastic Surgery Clinic is pleased to announce the launch of its Tummy Tuck Surgery services for postpartum women in Mumbai.

Dr Leena Jain, a renowned plastic surgeon and hand reconstruction specialist, performs Tummy Tuck Surgery for postpartum women and helps them to get back in shape. Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty is cosmetic surgery that removes the extra skin and fat from the abdomen, tightens the loose muscles to create a well-toned and flat midsection.  Women struggling to regain their pre-pregnancy shape prefer abdominoplasty procedure after their childbirth phase is complete.

Dr Leena Jain says, ‘Tummy Tuck Surgery helps women to achieve their desired look by tightening the abdominal muscles and removing excess skin and fat. I understand the challenges they face to regain their pre-pregnancy figure even after rigorous exercise and dieting and hence I recommend abdominoplasty procedure that helps them to regain their shape, confidence and lead an active lifestyle.’

Dr Leena Jain is one of the leading hand reconstruction, microsurgeon and plastic surgeon of Mumbai. She is a consultant with the Lilavati Hospital, Bandra and has her own private clinic at Borivali, Mumbai.

Dr. Leena Jain explains the various types of tummy tuck surgeries. There are three types of abdominoplasty or tummy tuck procedures viz. the complete abdominoplasty, the partial or mini-abdominoplasty,  the circumferential abdominoplasty or extended abdominoplasty.  These tummy tuck surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and last up to three to four hours. Hence, the patient will have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days.

As the name suggests the complete abdominoplasty refers to working on the entire abdomen including the abdominal muscles, repositions the umbilicus, and trims the excess skin and fat to obtain the desired shape. The plastic surgeon makes an incision in the bikini line, marks and removes the excess tissue followed by working on the remnant skin and suitably repositioning the umbilicus. If essential, a liposuction procedure is performed before abdominoplasty. The drainage tubes were placed under the skin for a few days to drain the excess fat.

The partial or mini abdominoplasty refers to removing the skin from lower half of the abdomen without touching the umbilicus and the upper abdominal area while in circumferential abdominoplasty or extended abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon removes the extra fat deposited in the abdomen and back to give a better shape to the torso.

After an abdominoplasty procedure, the patient will need to take complete rest for one week after the surgery and slowly resume normal work. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercises for at least six weeks after the surgery. They should have a balanced diet and stay well hydrated during this period.

Lastly, Dr Leena Jain states, ‘The multiple benefits of undergoing tummy tuck surgery are that it improves body contour, prevents recurrence of hernias, reduces stress and urinary incontinence after vaginal delivery. Also, one more important benefit is that it enhances the body images and boosts the confidence of the patient.
