DRDO develops new antibody testing kit 'DIPCOVAN' for early corona testing

New Delhi: DRDO has developed a new kit for an antibody test for an early corona test. The name of this kit is DIPCOVAN. The kit can detect spikes of SARS-CoV-2 viruses as well as nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins with a high sensitivity of 97% and a uniqueness of 99%.

It has been developed with the help of Delhi-based Vanguard Diagnostics Pvt. The kit is completely indigenous and has been developed by scientists here. Thereafter, the capacity of more than 1000 patients in various Corona Hospitals in Delhi was verified after extensive testing on their samples.

Wengard Diagnostics Pvt Ltd will launch it in the first week of June 2021. Wengard Diagnostics Pvt. The limited will launch about 100 kits of DIPCOVAN which will allow about 10,000 tests to be conducted. The price is expected to be Rs 75 per test. Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also allowed a home testing kit called CoviSelf, a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kit. With the help of this kit, people will be able to check their corona on their own while sitting at home.
