New Delhi: India's newly elected President Draupadi Murmu will take an oath of office as the country's highest constitutional office on Monday, July 25. She has been elected as the 15th President of India. Due to the swearing-in ceremony to be held in the capital Delhi, she can be seen in a traditional Santhali saree. Murmu's sister-in-law Sukri Tudu is coming to Delhi with a special sari frayed by women from the Santhal community in eastern India.

According to reports, Sukri left for the national capital on Saturday to attend the swearing-in ceremony to be held in the Central Hall of Parliament along with her husband Tarinisen Tudu. Sukri said, "I am bringing a traditional Santhali sari for Didi and I hope that she will wear it for the swearing-in ceremony. I don't know exactly what she'll be wearing on this occasion. Rashtrapati Bhavan will decide the dress of the new President.''

One end of the Santhali sari has some striping work and women from the Santhali community wear it on special occasions. Santhali sarees have uniform stripes in the long form and have the same design at both ends. Sukri lives with her husband and family at Uparbera village near Rairangpur in the Mayurbhanj district. She said she is also carrying the traditional dessert 'Arissa Pitha' for Murmu. Meanwhile, Murmu's daughter and bank officer Itishree Anke have reached Hembram New Delhi with her husband Ganesh and both of them are living with the President-elect. A senior BJP leader said, "Only four members of the family of the elected president - brother, sister-in-law, daughter and son-in-law - will attend the swearing-in ceremony.'' He said the swearing-in ceremony of the country's 15th President could give a glimpse of "tribal" culture and tradition. BJD President and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik left on Saturday on a four-day visit to the national capital. He will also attend Murmu's swearing-in ceremony. Sources said that apart from the six BJP MLAs from the Mayurbhanj district, three members of the Rairangpur branch of Ishwariya Prajapati Brahma Kumari, Brahma Kumari Supriya, Brahma Kumari Basanti and Brahmakumar Govind have also reached New Delhi and met Murmu.
