Imphal: Manipur Police has arrested a suspected drug trafficker with 84.45 kg of opium worth over Rs 4 crore in the global market. Taking action on a specific input, a team of Imphal West District Police Commandos launched a search operation in the Shantipur area and arrested the drug peddler.
The police team also recovered Rs 19.85 lakh cash from the drug peddler, which was identified as Sandeep. Limbu is a resident of Shantipur, Kangaltongbi. The police officer informed that the drug peddler was taken into custody when a police team was patrolling and checking in Shantipur areas. We have received information from detectives in the locality about the presence of the peddler.
"When the packets were tested, the total price of opium in the global market was 84.45 kg, priced at Rs 4,22,25,000," he said. On the initial interrogation, the person allegedly admitted that the opium consignment was to be given to a person named Karan, who is located in Guwahati. The arrested person has been handed over with drugs for further action in the Simay police station.
