New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken of strict action to destroy the drug network. He said that the government has mapped the drug network in all the states. No matter how big the criminal is, he will be in jail within the next two years. He said that the policy of our government is very clear, drug addicts are victims, and we should be sensitive towards them and give a conducive environment to the victims for their rehabilitation, but those involved in drug trafficking should not be spared.

The Union Home Minister was speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (December 21) during a discussion on 'The problem of drug abuse in the country and the steps taken by the government in this regard'. He assured the House that the Modi government has a zero-tolerance policy for such activities. On Rahul Gandhi's allegation of drug recovery in Gujarat port on a large scale, Amit Shah said that he is not in the House, so he does not want to take the name, but has to understand that recovery of more drugs is a big success, because the agencies are alert. Comparing the tenure of the Congress and BJP governments, he said that from 2006 to 2013, 22.41 lakh kg of drugs were seized, while from 2014 to 2022, 62.60 lakh kg of drugs were seized.

The Home Minister said that the Revenue Department, NCB, and Anti-Narcotics agencies will have to work together against this menace. Borders are the responsibility of the central government, but when we give authority to BSF, it is said that the rights of the states are being taken away, how will BSF work there now? BSF seizes drugs but does not have the right to register cases. Shah said that those politicizing the issue are encouraging drug trafficking. Agencies cannot work without authority, they have to be given authority. We should show faith in our agencies.
