Bhopal: India's first infantry museum has opened for the public on the eve of the 75th year of the establishment of the Infantry School and to celebrate Victory Day. The world-class museum has been set up under the aegis of Infantry School Mhow with the intention of showcasing Infantry with the theme line Infantry the Ultimate.
The construction of this museum started in 2007. At the same time, after being completed in 2017, it was opened for army officers and soldiers. At the same time, after about 5 years, it has been opened to the common citizens of the country. Lieutenant General PN Ananthanarayanan, SM, Commandant, The Infantry School, Mhow invited the esteemed veterans and civilian dignitaries to witness the formal milestone.
The museum has all the glimpses of the history of the infantry from 1747 to 2020, depicting the rich heritage, glorious past, and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers preserved in sculptures, murals, and photo galleries. The construction of this museum has been going on for a decade. The Infantry Museum has been designed on a living concept museum, the building has been developed in different parts, according to the overall plan. The 3-story building of the museum has been built on two acres of land. It has 17 different rooms covering the history and development of the Indian Infantry since 1747 in chronological order in 30 subject areas. Here the battle of Plassey 1757, the Battle of Saragarhi 1897, the Battle of Buxar Indo-Pak war 1965 and 1971 as well as the history of Shivaji and Subhash Chandra Bose has been preserved.
