The world's first home marathon was held on Friday. In this, 749 runners representing 62 countries covered a distance of 42.195 km in their homes. Participants in the marathon included 526 men and 223 women. The youngest participant is 18 years old and the oldest is 65 years old. The marathon will take place between 8 am and 6 pm as per the time of United Arab Emirates (UAE). In this way participants will participate in it within ten hours. In this also, a distance of 42.195 km will have to be traveled. It is open to all age groups. Many runners from this region are participating in it. Apart from UAE, runners from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Jordan will also take part.
The marathon is being organized under the joint aegis of Dubai Sports Council (DSC), ASICS Middle East and 5:30 run club. The participant has set his or her own course size for running but will not be allowed to use the treadmill or any other equipment. Running in public places will also not be allowed.
Charge smartwatch required: Participants have to ensure that they have a fully charged smartwatch and smartphone in which the Strava app is working. They will have to join the Marathon at Home group on Strava and stay connected. This track will help them to cover their time and distance. Prizes will be given to those at the top and certificates to those who complete the race.
