Melbourne: The unprecedented defeat in the home series against India was a 'danger bell' for Australian coach Justin Langer and he says that the series was also decisive in his coaching career. Langer was appointed Australia's coach in May 2018, at the same time as captain Steve Smith and vice-captain Justin Langer were banned in the ball-tampering case.

Without their star batsmen, the Australian team could not stand ahead of India. Langer told the Australian Associate Press in a podcast that, 'It was a bell of danger and a difficult time in my life.' He said, 'I have no doubt that after ten years when I will review my coaching career, That series will prove to be decisive. He referred to another difficult phase of his career when he was dropped from the team in the 2001 Ashes series.

Langer said, 'In 2001, when I got out of the Australian team at the age of 31, I felt it was the end. In such a situation, what is the lesson that you can learn in adverse conditions. Former opener Langer believes that one should learn from difficult situations.
