New Delhi: Traveling on Indian Railways is not proving to be a pleasant one for many people including elderly people who used to be eligible for concessional tickets before the corona pandemic. Indian Railways is restoring many types of passenger facilities closed due to the Corona period, but the concessions available to railway passengers are still not being received.
Although, Indian Railways has started the facility of concession to the disabled and railway pass holders, but the fares received in more than 4 dozen categories including elderly people, sportspersons, examinees, journalists, sick persons suffering from serious diseases, etc. The concession facility has not been restored, due to which the eyes of the eligible railway passengers getting the facility of concession in fare are fixed towards the Ministry of Railways.
In fact, when the first wave of corona knocked in the country, a lockdown was imposed all over India to prevent the spread of the virus. Simultaneously, the operation of trains was also stopped. When the wave of Corona calmed down, the Indian Railways slowly started resuming the operation of trains. Along with this, the facility of concession in fare has also been restored to the handicapped and railway pass holders. On the other hand, trains were run in special classes for many days. For traveling in these special trains, railway passengers had to pay 20% to 30% more fare, but in view of the convenience of the passengers, the railways removed the tag from various trains. After this decision of the Railways, the passengers got a lot of relief.
