Madras: Recently, a madras high court bench came to the fore when an advocate appearing for a virtual hearing was seen in an objectionable condition. The High Court has now initiated contempt proceedings against the advocate. The incident took place due to court proceedings of Justice Elanthiraiya. Surprisingly, the advocate, who appeared through virtual hearing, met a woman in an objectionable condition. The video soon went viral on social media.

Thereafter, a bench of Justices Prakash and Hemlata took suo motu cognizance of the matter and initiated court proceedings. The Madras High Court also ordered an investigation CBCID the case as it is an offence under the IT Act. The judges also directed the Tamil Nadu Bar Council to take appropriate disciplinary action against the advocate. Thereafter, the Council has suspended the advocate from practising in any court.
