BENGALURU: Two people were arrested and five litres of hashish oil worth Rs 5 crore were seized from their possession in Bangalore today. Prakash and Dhyamraj, both from Andhra Pradesh, have been booked.
The oil was reportedly kept near the SLN Lake View Apartment in BTM Layout to be sold during the New Year's Eve celebrations. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused obtained the prohibited substance in Odisha.
The hasish oil was intended to be circulated among drug peddlers in Bengaluru, who would then sell it to customers who are students, IT professionals, industrialists, and elite people, according to Mico Layout police, who are investigating the case. The investigation has been launched in order to track down the nexus and the inter-state drug mafia.
In a similar incident yesterday, there were two more persons, including a student, arrested for possessing hashish oil weighing 1 kg. The arrested were identified by the police as Muhamad Aslam of Kakkanad and Clint Xavier of Thrissur. Aslam, a law student in Bengaluru, allegedly brought the contra-band from Bengaluru. Xavier was arrested from Angamaly when he reached there to collect the narcotics drugs from Aslam. The drugs were found discretely packed in two bags, the police said.
