According to the Hindu Panchang, Lord Shri Krishna was born on the Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month and Rohini Nakshatra. This time Janmashtami festival was celebrated on 11 and 12 August. The Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna, which is very popular in the country and the world. This temple is also considered one of the four shrines of Hinduism.

According to mythological beliefs, about five thousand years ago, Lord Shri Krishna built the city of Dwarka. Dwarkadhish Temple was constructed at Hari Gruh, the personal palace of Lord Shri Krishna. It is the Shyamvarni Chaturbhuj statue of Lord Shri Krishna of Dwarkadhish Temple, which sits on the silver throne. Krishna is holding conch, mace, chakra, and lotus in his hands. Due to archaeological discovery, this temple has been described as 2,000 to 2,200 years old.

It is made of limestone, the height of the 7-story Dwarkadhish temple is about 157 feet. The outer walls of this temple have been decorated, depicting the lifestyle of Lord Krishna. This temple has two entry gates. The south-facing gate is called the heaven gate. Pilgrims normally enter the temple through this gate. On the north side, the gate which is called the salvation gate. This gate leads to the 56 banks of the Gomti River, and this temple is very attractive.
