India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, has reiterated the nation's unwavering dedication to securing the release of eight Indian citizens currently detained in Qatar. During a meeting with the families of the detained individuals, Minister Jaishankar emphasized the Indian government's strong commitment to resolving the situation.

Taking to the social media platform X to make this announcement, Jaishankar underlined the paramount importance attached to this case and assured that all necessary efforts would continue to be made to facilitate the release of the detained Indians.

Speaking at a town hall event in Bhopal on October 28, Jaishankar expressed the following: "Today, a responsible government with strong governance stands up for the well-being of its people. Just as effective governance is essential domestically, making the right decisions on the international stage is equally crucial. We take a resolute stance against terrorism because we have experienced its devastating impact."

He further stated, "Our credibility is at stake if we claim that terrorism is a grave issue when it affects us, but not when it happens to others. Consistency in our position is imperative."

India's recent stance on a United Nations (UN) resolution related to Hamas terror attacks in the Israel-Palestine conflict was also addressed. India refrained from supporting a UN resolution proposed by Jordan that did not condemn Hamas terror attacks, opting for a Canadian resolution that explicitly condemned these acts of terrorism instead.

The Jordanian draft resolution received approval from the UN General Assembly with 120 votes in favor, while 14 nations voted against it, and 45 abstained from voting, including Iceland, India, Panama, Lithuania, and Greece.

This resolution was adopted during the UN General Assembly's emergency special session addressing the Israel-Palestine crisis. It also called for the continuous, sufficient, and unhindered delivery of life-saving aid and services to civilians in the affected region.

Minister Jaishankar emphasized India's evolving global image during his address in Bhopal, stating, "A strong and effective government are two sides of the same coin. In recent decades, India's global reputation has undergone a significant transformation. We have championed 'Made in India' and 'Invent in India' initiatives, developed a robust CO-WIN platform, and made significant contributions to the vaccine landscape."

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "Relations with Canada are in difficult phase..."
