New Delhi: India External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar took to 'namaste diplomacy' while welcoming fellow Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) foreign ministers at the Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers in Panaji today, May 5,  a step that helped keep up equanimity while greeting his Pakistani Foreign Minister.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar was polite and courteous while welcoming and greeting Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with a "namaste" and polite smile at the venue, with the Pakistani Foreign Minsiter responding in kind, as both posed for a photo. Dr. Jaishankar then politely ushered him to the meeting room.

He did similarly for Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, with whom he had held a bilateral meeting yesterday, May 5.. However, the two ministers did share a few words before the Chinese FM was ushered in for the meeting.

It was a namaste with which he greeted Russia’s FM Sergey Lavrov too, though the two share a good binding and on Thursday did share some lighter moments.

The SCO membership includes Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan besides India.

Meanwhile, In Moscow, during the 12th Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism and India-Russia bilateral meetings on UN and multilateral issues, India and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing counterterrorism cooperation on both a bilateral and multilateral level.
