Assam experience another earthquake tremors with intensity of 4.1

Guwahati: A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Assam late on Friday night, the fifth earthquake in the northeastern region in the last 24 hours. A report by the National Centre for Sysmology said that the tremors were carried out at 1.7pm on Friday, with the centre located at a depth of 30 kilometres near Tezpur, the headquarters of Sonitpur district. At present, no loss of life or property has been reported due to any casualty in this earthquake.

Earlier, two more earthquakes hit the province, including a 4.1 magnitude earthquake on Friday morning, with its epicentre located in Sonitpur district. A 4.1 magnitude blow occurred at 2.40 pm in Sonitpur, Assam. The epicenter was located 36 kilometers northwest of Tezpur, at a depth of 22 kilometers from earth. In Alava, Meghalaya and Manipur in Assam, one tremor after another was also felt.

In Chandel area of Manipur, it arrived at 1.60 pm after midnight, with a magnitude of 3 on the Richter scale. Its center was 10 kilometers from earth near myanmar's border, 39 kilometers southeast of Moirang. Meanwhile, the 2.6 magnitude blow came at 4.20 pm in West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
