Tehran: Iran amidst tensions with the US made public the short-range ballistic missile Rad-500 on Sunday, February 9, 2020. At the same time, Revolutionary Guards has said that this missile has a new generation engine to put the satellite into orbit. At the same time, the name of this engine is Zuhair, which is made of alloy. It is lighter than the steel engine built earlier, so it is easier for the missile to catch fast speed.

Fire-power of Rad-500 is 500 km: On the website of Revolutionary Guards, it is said that the weight of Rad-500 missile is half of the earlier Fateh-110 missile but it is 200 km more than its range. Iran made the Fateh-110 missile public in 2002. Where the firepower of that missile is 300 km. It is a ground-to-ground ballistic missile. In this sense, the range of Rad-500 is 500 km. Major General Hussain Salami, head of Revolutionary Guards, removed the curtain from the new missile. It has been dedicated to the former head of the organization, Major General Qasim Sulemani. Sulaimani was killed by the US in a drone strike on 3 January 2020 in Baghdad.

But the satellite launch failed: It has been learned that Iran tried to place the satellite by launching satellite on Sunday, February 9, 2020, but it failed. This satellite named Zafar was dropped from Semnan. At a speed of 7,400 kilometers per hour, the rocket carried it to space but it could not maintain the required speed at the time of being placed in orbit and the entire water was lost. Iran had earlier left the satellite in 2009, 2011 and 2012. But the launch of two advanced satellites abandoned in 2019 has failed.
