The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former Railway Minister and senior Congress leader Pawan Kumar Bansal in a railway bribery case involving his nephew. According to a highly placed source, Bansal was questioned on Wednesday at the ED's Chandigarh office for about 8 hours.

According to the source, Bansal will be questioned once again in the coming days. The ED had attached an amount of 89 lakhs in this case in May last year. The amount was seized by the CBI from the office of Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla in 2013. It is said that when Bansal was a railway minister under UPA-2, a case of rigging was registered for appointment to higher posts. Bansal had to step down as the dispute escalated.

On the basis of CBI FIR, ED has taken action against the Railway Board member. In which money laundering was lodged against 7 others including Mahesh Kumar, Vijay Singla, and Sandeep Goyal. The ED quoted CBI as saying that Singla had demanded Rs 10 crore from N. Manjunath through Sandeep Goyal to deploy Mahesh Kumar as a member (electrical).
