Thiruvananthapuram: The ruling CPI (M) in Kerala has spoken in the gold smuggling case. They have said that the government of the Left has nothing to hide about this. However, despite this, the opposition alliance of Kerala UDF is preparing to bring a no-confidence motion against the government on July 27 in the state assembly.

Kodiyari Balakrishnan, the state secretary of the ruling CPI(M), on Friday gave full support to the ruling coalition of his party and made a bitter statement on the opposition Congress and BJP. He said that the opposition is engaged in campaigns. He has made it clear by alleging that a BMS man associated with the BJP had tried to release the diplomatic package on 5 July.

The opposition groups have demanded the resignation of CM Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging that the strings of some officers of his office are connected to the accused in this case of gold smuggling. On July 5, in the Air Cargo premises of the airport, a customs officer had recovered thirty kilos of gold from a diplomat worth fifteen crores.

Balakrishnan has dismissed the allegations made by BJP President JP Nadda in an indirect attack on the BJP and the Muslim League. BJP President Nadda said tauntingly that the colour of gold smuggled in Kerala is red. While answering this, Balakrishnan has said that "It is now clear that the colour of gold is not red but saffron and green. Congress' plan to bring a no-confidence motion against the state government will also fail in the House."
