NEW DELHI: One day following the Enforcement Directorate's searches at the residences of certain Congress leaders in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot fiercely criticized the investigative agency on Friday, remarking, "The Enforcement Directorate seems to be more ubiquitous than wandering strays."

During a press conference held in Jaipur, Gehlot emphasized, "In our nation, it is not stray dogs, but the Enforcement Directorate that appears to be relentlessly on the prowl."

Furthermore, the Chief Minister asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was adhering to his 'guarantee model'. "I had sought an audience with the leaders of the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, but regrettably, these agencies have now been weaponized for political purposes. It seems that Modi Ji fails to recognize that his countdown has commenced. He is now adopting our 'guarantee model'," Gehlot declared.

On the previous day, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at the residences of the state Congress president, Govind Singh Dotasra, in Jaipur and Sikar, as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering related to an exam paper leak. Additionally, they summoned Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son in connection with a foreign exchange violation case.

In addition to the home of the 59-year-old Dotasra, a former school education minister, the agency also combed through the premises of Omprakash Hudla, a party candidate from the Mahua constituency in Dausa, and several others.

These raids were executed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Even on Thursday, Chief Minister Gehlot vehemently condemned the actions, claiming that an atmosphere of fear had been unleashed throughout the nation. He alleged that the BJP was targeting him through such searches because they were unable to dislodge his government.
