Patna: A big news is coming out from Samastipur in Bihar, where the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took major action against Video Rai and his family members, a resident of Samastipur district. In fact, the ED has seized 8 immovable properties worth Rs 3 crore 51 lakh 14 thousand related to Video Rai and his family members. These properties are located in the Samastipur district.
According to the investigating agency, the action has been taken under PMLA 2002 by registering an ECIR on February 22 on the basis of several FIRs received from the Economic Offences Unit of Patna. Based on inputs from the Economic Offences Wing, the ED has registered a case against Video Rai and others under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 414 (aiding in the concealment of stolen property), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security/will) and section 471 (using forged documents) 1860 and section 25 (1-B) A and section 25 (1-B) A of IPC. The investigation was started under the Act 1959.
Based on the evidence and facts found during the investigation, three FIRs have been registered against Video Rai and his family members. It was also alleged that Video Rai was indulging in the sale and purchase of illicit liquor. Simultaneously, he has acquired large real estate. Also, the ED investigation revealed that Video Rai was using various bank accounts of his family members as well as distant relatives to deposit the proceeds of the crime. In an attempt to hide the proceeds of crime, he and his family members have received huge money in bank accounts under the guise of borrowed money.
