Jaipur: In a recent announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen Bhajan Lal Sharma as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The decision reflects the party's confidence in Sharma, a Brahmin face, who has been actively involved in the organization for an extended period. Previously serving as the State General Secretary four times, Sharma's significant contributions to the party have earned him the position of Chief Minister.

Election Victory in Sanganer

For the first time in the recent election, BJP fielded Bhajan Lal Sharma from the secure constituency of Sanganer in Jaipur, replacing the incumbent MLA Ashok Lahoti. Sharma secured a substantial victory, defeating Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj by 48,081 votes.

Educational Background and Legal Cases

Bhajan Lal Sharma, a resident of Bharatpur, holds a postgraduate degree in Politics from Rajasthan University, earned in 1993. However, there are two pending legal cases against him under IPC sections. One case involves section 353 of the Indian Penal Code related to assault or criminal force to prevent a public servant from discharging his duty, and the other case is registered under section 149 of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to every member of an unlawful assembly guilty of an offense committed in prosecution of a common object.

Financial Details

As per the affidavit submitted during the assembly elections, Bhajan Lal Sharma's total assets amount to Rs 1.40 crore, with liabilities at Rs 35 lakh. His financial profile includes Rs 1,15,000 in cash, approximately Rs 11 lakh in bank deposits, and three tola gold worth Rs 1,80,000. Additionally, he possesses two insurance policies from LIC and HDFC Life valued at Rs 2,83,817. The Chief Minister also owns a Tata Safari (Rs 5 lakh) and a TVS Victor motorcycle (Rs 35,000).

Congress Accusations and Election Outcome

During the election campaign, the Congress party accused Bhajan Lal Sharma of being an outsider, urging voters in Sanganer to defeat the candidate from outside. Despite these allegations, Sharma emerged victorious, showcasing his popularity and acceptance among the electorate.
