BJP's Caste Equation: Arjun Ram Meghwal Eyed as Potential Chief Minister in Rajasthan

Jaipur: The recent decisions made by the BJP in appointing Chief Ministers have stirred speculation about Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal potentially becoming the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan. This move comes in the wake of surprising selections in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, where tribal leader Vishnu Dev Sai and three-time MLA Mohan Yadav were appointed, respectively, breaking away from the expectations of other prominent leaders.

Mohan Yadav, hailing from the backward class (OBC), was chosen as the Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh, showcasing BJP's commitment to maintaining a caste balance. The party also addressed the caste equation by appointing Narendra Singh Tomar, a Rajput (upper caste), as the Assembly Speaker. The OBC community found representation in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while the positions of Deputy CM were assigned to Rajendra Shukla (Brahmin) and Jagdish Deora (Dalit), ensuring diverse representation.

Given these recent trends, there is speculation that Arjun Ram Meghwal, belonging to the Dalit community (SC), might be considered for the post of Chief Minister in Rajasthan. This potential move by the BJP aims to bridge caste gaps and provide representation to all sections of society. Despite not participating in the elections, Meghwal's name has surfaced in discussions about leadership roles. In Rajasthan, other contenders for the Chief Minister post include Vasundhara Raje, Diya Kumari, Baba Balaknath, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

The BJP's decision in Rajasthan, set to be announced on December 12, will be closely watched to see how the party navigates its leadership choices and caste considerations in the state.
