On the first day of polythene ban in the capital, Lucknow got the mixed effect. District administration and municipal team raided Sunday and seized about 298 kg polythene and fined Rs 34, 200. The Municipal Corporation started the campaign together by teaming up in all zones. After which the fraud was raged in shoppers. However, after the polythene ban, the city's conscious people came out with a bag from the houses.
In Aminabad, the campaign of polythene seizure was started in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Dr Indramani Tripathi and City Magistrate Vivek Srivastava. Action taken for 150 kg polythene seizure was carried out by campaigning on Narahi, Rana Pratap Road, Ashok Marg under the leadership of tax superintendent Rajesh Singh. On Monday, the action of recovering the fines with seizure will also be started.
After the government's decision, around 100 million polythene dumps in the entire state. Nearly 15 million polythene factories and shopkeepers are kept in Lucknow. Prior to the ban, about 100 factories were making polythene bags by combining legal and illegal in the city.
Ryan Jain, chairman of Industry, Lucknow Plastics Association, said, "There is 50 microns pearl polythene in the city, after the ban, about 300 tonnes of thin polythene in the factories have been a dump. There are thousands of legitimate and illegal factories in the entire state, where there is a polythene dump made of three thousand tonnes.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Sunday approved the Ordinance for stringent punishment for the manufacture, sale and use of polythene. According to a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan, the governor has approved "Uttar Pradesh plastics and other organisms unconditional garbage trash (Regulation of Use and Disposal) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018". In this connection, the related law made in the year 2000 has been made more rigorous and effective while amending it through this Ordinance.
