How to Make Egg Yolk Face Masks
Perhaps, the best thing about using egg yolk for face masks is that you can use it on almost any part of your skin along with your face. While preparing face mask, break an egg and separate the yolk from the egg whites. Do not use the whites to make your mask, but you can consider cooking it for dinner. Even after using ample amount of yolk to make your mask, you are likely to left with a lot of leftovers. If that happens, then you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three days. Use different ingredients with the yolk to meet your specific needs.
To Lighten Skin
Mix 1 egg yolk with yogurt, lemon juice and honey. Lemon juice is known to have skin bleaching properties. Apply this pack on your face and leave it for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.
For Ageing Skin
Plump up your skin and defend the signs of premature aging with this face pack. You will need 1 egg yolk, 1 ripe banana and 1 teaspoon of olive oil/ coconut oil to make this face pack. Olive oil is often called ‘natural botox’ as it helps locking moisture into skin cells. Again, banana is rich in vitamin E and contains anti-oxidants that prevent the harmful activities of wrinkle-causing free radicals. Mash the banana and mix all the other ingredients to it thoroughly. Apply the pack using your fingertips and relax till it dries. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry. You can also moisturize your skin by using a drop of olive/ coconut oil.
Nourishing Face Mask
This mask is suitable for all skin types. It helps to soothe, hydrate, moisturize and nourish your skin. To prepare it, you will need 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon if yogurt and 1/4th of a ripe avocado. Avocado is a storehouse of healthy fats that help to moisturize and hydrate dull skin, while yogurt works as an antiseptic to do away with bacteria that cause acne and other breakouts. Mash the avocado and mix all the other ingredients to it thoroughly. Apply the pack using your fingertips and relax till it dries. Rinse with lukewarm water.
For Dry Skin
Take 1 egg yolk and blend it with one teaspoon of honey. Honey is a natural moisturizer and has antiseptic properties. Apply the mixture on cleansed face. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. You can also add olive oil with this pack.
One Last Word Of Caution
You should not try any of the above mentioned face packs if you are allergic towards poultry or eggs. There is high chance that your face will react adversely to it. The risk is not worth taking. Instead look for egg alternatives to treat your skin.
Consider going for a facial steaming before you apply the masks. While applying the mask, secure your hair using a plastic rubber band or shower cap. Try to prevent the face pack from getting in your hair. Always wear your old clothes while using egg yolk face masks because they have a tendency to drip. You’d nod like to have drops of egg yolk on the clothes you regularly wear.
