CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Djiboutian counterpart, Ismail Omar Guelleh, met in Cairo to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual concern.

Sisi said Guelleh's visit represents a continuation of communication and coordination between the two nations at various bilateral and regional levels, as well as a follow-up to the results of their consultations during Sisi's visit to Djibouti in May 2021, according to reports.

"This outreach emphasises the long-standing strategic partnerships that link our two countries on all levels," the Egyptian President said, saying that bilateral ties had seen considerable progress in both political and economic spheres over the past few years.

He noted that the negotiations were marked by openness and transparency, which represented the two countries' agreement on many bilateral and regional problems.

"We discussed all aspects of the two countries' ongoing cooperation, particularly at the economic, trade, and investment levels, as well as ways to advance them in a manner that is commensurate with our distinguished political relations," he said.
