At the trailer launch of her new film, The Buckingham Murders, producer Ektaa R Kapoor expressed serious concerns about the recent Justice Hema Committee Report, which highlights troubling issues of harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam film industry. Kapoor emphasized the need for more women to assume leadership roles to create safer environments for everyone.

Kapoor addressed the media, stating, “Women’s safety is a critical issue that extends beyond the film industry. We take this matter very seriously. It’s essential for more women to lead, setting an example for others to follow. For instance, having two female producers working on a crime film solved by a female detective is a positive step towards ensuring safety.” She stressed the importance of shifting responsibility from men to women to improve workplace safety.

The Justice Hema Committee Report, which revealed disturbing cases of harassment involving influential men in the Malayalam film industry, has sparked widespread discussion. Although the report protected the identities of those involved, it has nonetheless generated significant concern and debate.
