Kolkata: The campaigning for the second phase of the assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam came to an end on March 30 on Tuesday evening. Nandigram is considered the most high-profile seat in West Bengal during the second phase. In West Bengal, voting will be held in 30 seats in the second phase, about 171 candidates are trying their luck here. On the other hand, in Assam, votes will be cast in 39 seats during the second phase and 345 candidates are trying their luck here, in both states the second phase of voting is going to be held on Thursday, April 1.

During the second phase of voting, all eyes are on the Nandigram seat. TMC's credibility is at stake on this seat. This seat is going to be fought between TMC supremo Mamta Banerjee and recently the BJP's subdued Subhendu Adhikari. In West Bengal, voting will be held in 30 seats during the second phase. The Election Commission has completed all preparations in this regard. Strong security arrangements have been made for this so as not to provoke violence in the elections. In the second phase where votes will be cast, nine seats are from East Medinipur district, while 8 seats are from Bankura, 9 seats are from West Medinipur and 4 seats are from South 24 Parganas district.

On Tuesday, Mamta Banerjee held an election rally here as well as a roadshow by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in support of Shubhendu Adhikari contesting against him. Mamta Banerjee held rallies and roadshows during this, Mamata Banerjee attacked Shubhendu Adhikari without naming her. Mamta said that the BJP is conspiring to kill its own people and rioting it as our action.
