New Delhi: Amid the Corona epidemic, the Election Commission has decided to hold Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections. The Election Commission held a review meeting today, in which it was decided that bye-elections will be held in the Corona era. It is being told that the date of the bye-election can be announced tomorrow.
Preparations for the by-election for Lok Sabha seat and 56 assembly seats have been completed. Total of 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh of which 27 seats are vacant. Of these, two seats are vacant due to the death of MLAs while 25 seats are vacant due to the resignation of MLAs. The election on Agar assembly seat has been postponed. Before the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat, 8 Congress MLAs resigned from the party and joined the BJP. Due to this, by-elections are proposed in the assembly seats of Abdasa, Morbi, Dhari, Limbdi, Gadhada, Kaprada, Karjan and Dang. In Jharkhand, two assembly seats Dumka and Bermo are vacant, where by-elections are to be held.
Baroda assembly seat in Sonipat district of Haryana is vacant. This seat is vacant due to the death of MLA of Congress party Shri Krishna Hooda. Similarly, Marwahi seat of Chhattisgarh is also vacant, which has become vacant due to the demise of MLA and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi of Chhattisgarh Congress.
