New Delhi: The dates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana have been announced. These election dates were announced in the press conference of the Election Commission. While announcing this, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said that Maharashtra and Haryana will go to polls on October 21. The election results of both states will be released on October 24. Elections will be held in both the states in a single phase.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has said that 100 per cent of the voters in Haryana have voter ID cards. Maharashtra has 8.94 crores, while Haryana has 1.28 crore voters. Candidates will have to give information about their criminal record. If any column remains vacant, the nomination of the candidate will be cancelled. The CEC has also appealed not to use plastic in the election campaign.

The CEC has stated that the VVPAT of the five booths will be matched. License arms will have to be submitted to the police station as soon as the notification is issued. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told that in these assembly elections the limit of election expenses of every candidate has been fixed up to Rs 28 lakh. An adequate number of security forces will be deployed to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully and with complete security.
