Voting time will be extended in upcoming assembly elections: Election Commission

New Delhi: Assembly elections are proposed in several states including Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala in the year 2021 amid the global epidemic coronavirus. In view of this election, some parties have recommended to the Election Commission that the voting hours be extended. The Election Commission has decided to extend the election time by one hour, following the recommendation of all parties.

The Election Commission also gave important information about the result of the vote. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told all political parties that when voting takes place in more than one state, the counting of votes cannot be done after a day or two. He said that if one state results, it affects the voting of another state. He said that according to the population, the time frame of voting is different in every state, so we will do the counting in the end.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that the term of the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu is going to end on May 24, 2021. Elections are to be held for 234 assembly constituencies in the state. Of these, 188 seats for general category, 44 for SC, 02 for ST. He said that elections will be held under the guidance of Corona.
