EC announces schedule for Karnataka by-election

New Delhi: The Election Commission has decided not to announce the dates of by-elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal at this stage. The Election Commission has been asked by the Chief Secretaries and Election Commission. The Chief Electoral Officers have received inputs expressing difficulties in conducting elections and related issues.

In Karnataka, polling for two assembly seats will be held on 28th October. The counting of votes will be held on November 2, 2020. In Bihar, by-elections are proposed in Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha constituency. The president of RLSP, Upendra Kushwaha can descend into the fray. The seat has been vacated due to the demise of JDU MP Vaidynath Prasad Mahato. 

By-elections for the assembly seats are also proposed in other states other than Madhya Pradesh. The by-elections are going to be in one seat each in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka and West Bengal. By-elections are proposed for two seats in Assam, Jharkhand, Kerala, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu and Odisha. In addition to the five seats in Manipur, by-eelections will be held on the eight assembly constituencies of Gujarat and UP.
