On Friday, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Chief Kamal Haasan said that the Lok Sabha poll was not merely to choose the Prime Minister, “but to decide our future and what is best for the country”. While addressing a public meeting and seeking support for his party candidate A. Saravanakumar, he said Members of Parliament would choose the Prime Minister after the election, and deciding it now was not political dignity.

He stated that great leaders like K. Kamaraj and M.G. Ramachandran had studied the people. “Following them, I am here”. Mr. Haasan asked the youth generation to vote without fail, adding that the State was on the edge of a revolution. He expressed confidence that youngsters from both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would join his party. “Youngsters come to us as we are honest”, he said. Mr. Haasan asked the youngsters not to vote under NOTA, and act according to their conscience.

Mr. Haasan lashed out on DMK and said “thieves who hoarded money cannot speak and will not speak”, adding that he did not intend to insult any leader. “I have the courage to call thieves as thieves and people of the State should also have the same courage”, he said. “The State that had many dignified leaders should not be turned into a State of thieves”, he said.
