Rajya Sabha elections postponed due to Corona epidemic in the country will now be held on June 19. Four candidates are in the fray for 3 Rajya Sabha seats from Rajasthan. These include Congress National Organization General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi, BJP's Rajendra Gehlot and Omkar Singh Lakhawat.

The election process for the three seats started on 6 March. The last date for filing nomination papers was 13 March and the nomination papers were scrutinized on 16 March. All the nomination papers were found to be correct in the investigation. The election was scheduled on 26 March as per the pre-decided schedule. In the meantime, the outbreak of Corona epidemic increased and the election process was stopped in between. Now according to the new schedule, elections will be held on May 19.

Elections are going on in three seats. All 200 MLAs will vote in these. To win the election on one seat, the first preference needs 51 votes. The Congress has 107 votes. BJP has a vote bank of 72 MLAs. Of the 13 Independents, 11 are in favor of the Congress and one is with the BJP, one is not clear. The total number of MLAs of CPI (M) and National Democratic Party is 8. Of these, the CPI (M) is with the Congress and the National Democratic Party is in support of the BJP. According to the fixed formula, Congress needs 102 votes of first preference to win 2 seats, which it has. BJP also needs 102 votes for the first preference for the victory of both candidates, but it has 76 in addition to the supporters besides itself. Only one seat is seen in BJP's account. Now everyone's eyes are on the election.
