Washington: The ongoing legal battle between Elon Musk and Twitter, the world's richest man, has come to an end for a while. A US court has offered Musk some more time to complete his $44 billion deal with Twitter. A Delaware court judge said during a hearing on Friday (October 7) that Elon Musk is being given until October 28 to complete his deal with Twitter. Therefore, no court action will be taken against him till this date. But if he does not complete the deal, a new date for trial will be set in November.
Delaware Chancery Judge Kathleen St J McCormick said in his order that, ''Both parties (Twitter and Elon Musk) are being given until 5 pm on October 28 to complete the $44 billion deal. If the deal is not completed by this date, then the court will fix the date for trial in November.'' Elon Musk's lawyers said during the hearing that Musk has set a target of completing the Twitter deal by October 28. Following this argument from Musk's lawyers, the Delaware judge delivered the verdict and granted an extension until October 28.
Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla Inc was scheduled to go for trials on October 17. However, it was postponed after he took the initiative again. Musk's lawyers told the judge that he needed some more time. This will not harm Twitter. At the same time, Twitter also suspects Musk's promises that he can withdraw from the deal once again. As he has done before. In a court filing on Thursday, Elon Musk said that banks are working to complete this deal, so they need more time.
