On Friday morning, a fierce encounter broke out in Shopian and top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba are believed to be trapped. The encounter started between security forces and militants in Dragad Sugan area of Shopian district.

The joint operation by police and army began after the terrorists opened fire when the forces were conducting a search operation. Army, CRPF and Shopian Police are present at the spot. If sources are to be believed, top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba are trapped inside a building.

Massive reinforcement of army has been rushed to the encounter site at Dragad Sugan area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. According to early reports, the terrorists have been cornered. Encounter is still underway and a massive reinforcement of Army personnel have been rushed to the encounter site in Shopian.

Earlier, three terrorists were killed in an encounter between the security forces and terrorists after a search operation was launched here.
