NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is likely to file a non-bailable warrant against alleged Hawala businessman Nandkishor Chaturvedi in connection with a money laundering investigation involving Pushpak Bullion, one of Pushpak Group's subsidiaries.

In the same case, the ED recently attached properties worth Rs 6.45 crore allegedly belonging to Shridhar Patankar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's brother-in-law.

The investigation agency alleges that Chaturvedi was running shell firms and diverting money through his company, Humsafar Dealer Private Limited, by issuing unsecured loans totaling more than Rs 30 crore to Shree Saibaba Grihanirmiri Pvt. Ltd, which is allegedly owned by Patankar.

Thus, the money stolen off by Patel in collusion with Chaturvedi was invested in Shree Saibaba Grihanirmiti Pvt. Ltd. real estate projects. The ED launched a money laundering investigation into Pushpak Bullion and its subsidiaries in 2017.

It also seized Rs 21.46 crore in moveable and immovable assets belonging to Mahesh Patel, Chandrakant Patel, their family members, and enterprises managed by them. During the investigation, the ED discovered that Patel conspired with Chaturvedi to syphon and transfer cash from Pushpak Realty.
