Engineer jumped into creek after updating WhatsApp status

Thane:  A 21-year-old engineer attempted suicide by jumping into Kasheli creek in Bhiwandi on Monday. Police in Maharashtra have launched a search operation to recover the body.

According to the report, the victim is identified as Arman Irfan Ahmed Alvi, updated his status on messaging application WhatsApp. In his status, Alvi, a resident of Indira Nagar in Thane said that he had failed to fulfill his family's dreams which is why he was taking the drastic step of taking his own life. A witness who saw Alvi jumping into the creek alerted the cops and a search operation was launched in no time.

Police officials told Times of India that Alvi made a phone call to his mother before jumping off the creek. His mother claims that he sounded normal during their conversation. This raises the question of what might have triggered Alvi to take such an extreme step. Going by inputs from sections of the media, the police have not yet denied any foul play in connection with Alvi's death and more details are awaited in this regard.

As per the latest report, police have recovered the deceased's mobile phone and driving license but are yet to recover his body. The exact reason behind Alvi's suicide is yet to be ascertained awaiting a detailed police investigation into the matter.
