London: England's all-rounder player Chris Woakes has withdrawn his name from the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Woakes was to play for the Delhi Capitals team in the IPL 2020. He has informed its franchisees in this regard and the Delhi team has also started looking for their alternative.

Chris Woakes has said that he wants to keep himself fresh for international cricket competitions this summer season. He was bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL auction for Rs 1.50 crore. This is another major setback for Delhi as the team is already worried about the injuries of South African fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma.
