New Delhi: The use of 'bouncer', the most dangerous weapon of bowlers in cricket, has been discussed for a long time. Many times it has been described as quite dangerous for batsmen. Especially in 2014, it was discussed again after the death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes on the field. Now this debate has come to the fore again with the suggestion of a specialist to ban its use in under-18 cricket.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has called it a 'ridiculous' suggestion. Vaughan has said that it would be more dangerous if the youngsters faced short-pitch balls directly in senior cricket. Well-known concussion expert (head injury specialist) Michael Turner suggested that the use of bouncer balls should be banned in under-18 cricket. He described it as dangerous for younger players. However, his suggestion is not being supported by the cricket world.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that if youngsters ban bouncers in cricket, the risk may increase if they come into senior cricket. Vaughan told the British newspaper The Telegraph, "This is a ridiculous suggestion. If the youngsters have to face short balls for the first time while playing at senior level then it will be more risky. "
