AHMEDABAD: Before the crucial fourth Test against India, England Test captain Joe Root has said that even if his team manages to draw this series, it will still be the biggest achievement for them. India is leading 2–1 in the four-match series and the hosts need to win or draw the last Test to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

On the other hand, England has been eliminated from the WTC, and they are playing just to end the four-match series 2–2. If England wins the last Test, then Australia will reach the WTC final. Root said, 'You look at India's record at home in recent times and it is unbelievable. Therefore, it would be a good achievement for us to draw the series. Especially considering the last two matches, we have two challenging weeks. If the series matches 2–2, it will definitely be one of my greatest achievements as a captain. The progress we have made in the last few years is really fantastic, especially out of the house.'

India was successful in defeating England by ten wickets in two days in the third Test at the same place. In this match, the batsmen of both India and England were flopping and the spinners wreaked havoc. There was a lot of ruckus about Motera's pitch. The pitch here was giving tremendous help to the spinners. It is expected that in the fourth match too, the British will have to face a similar pitch.
