The Excise department has detained a car transporting liquor illegally and recovered 25 cartons of country-made liquor worth Rs 3 lakh near Lalghati square on Sunday; three persons were arrested who were carrying the liquor illegally.
Acting on a tip-off, a car bearing registration number MP04TB0384 was tracked and stopped and when the car was searched, 25 cartons of country-made liquor were recovered. The driver along with two others accelerated and tried to evade but they were nabbed.
Three persons have been arrested who were identified as Sandeep Yadav, Bablu Lodhi and Rakesh Kushwaha of Bhopal. The liquor was found packed in different packets and the customers which were scheduled to receive the liquor would be investigated in further investigation. During the investigation, it was found that the accused have brought the liquor from Gulshan Polyols Chhindwara which is a manufacturer but it was transported illegally to the state capital.
After the preliminary investigation, a case under section 34 (A) of the Excise Act. The buyers of the liquor provided by the accused would be investigated in further investigation. The action was taken in the ongoing drive to curb the increasing number of illegal trade of liquor in the city and outskirts of the city and received good success in the past few months. The crime record of the accused and his involvement in the illegal transport of liquor would be investigated. The nexus behind the illegal liquor trade would be unearthed in further investigation.
