Get ready, Indore! The city's zoo is gearing up to welcome some stunning black-and-white-striped creatures very soon. As part of an animal exchange program among zoos in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru, African zebras will soon find a new home at the Indore Zoo.

The management at Indore Zoo has proposed an exchange program that not only includes zebras but also other fascinating animals like lions, tigers, and jackals. This initiative aims to enhance the diversity of wildlife at the zoo. Interestingly, a similar proposal was put forth in 2021 for a pair of African zebras to be brought from Mumbai's Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Zoo to Indore. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plan had to be put on hold.

Currently, Indore Zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 1,300 wild animals, showcasing a rich biodiversity. With the impending arrival of zebras, Indore is set to become the first city in Madhya Pradesh to house these captivating creatures.
